The article discusses the historical background and radio operations of the battleship USS North Carolina. It was said to be the first U.S. battleship constructed in 16 years. The vessel was saved by the Save Our Ship campaign and was taken to her current berth in Wilmington, North Carolina on October 2, 1961. Members of Azalea Coast Amateur Radio Club have restored the vessel's radio rooms and most of the equipment to the condition they were in when the battleship went into service.
