'I packed on muscle for Star Trek - but dieting made me a monster'

Benedict Cumberbatch is a study in contradictions. He seems to have grown wary of journalists, yet in interviews often seems eager to please. He is funny, entertaining and good company — but also remote. He is tall and pale, with chiselled cheekbones and piercing green eyes. He is capable of looking suspicious, creepy, intimidating — and, according to the acres of internet space dedicated to his distinctive looks — sexy as hell. Well-dressed, wellmannered, perfect in his diction and precise and immaculate on screen, he above all likes to stay firmly in control. So imagine his horror when he found himself losing that control while filming Star Trek Into Darkness.
