ABSTRACT
AFEW weeks ago I walked into my local hostelry to be greeted by a number of regulars sitting by the fire (Scotland in mid-April, you understand). One hailed me with the words: 'The very man - you can answer this. How many Catholics do Rangers have at the moment?' To which the answer is that I don't have a clue and have neither any means of checking, nor the inclination to do so. It is worth mentioning here that my interrogator was a Londoner, who then introduced me to his friend, Paul, from Galway.
