ABSTRACT
ENDA Kenny opened the DSPCA veterinary hospital in Rathfarnham, where he was much taken by a fetching stray cat named 'Professor Plum'. As a result, the Taoiseach was sent 'a small memento of your visit' — a photograph of the same moggie. Brian Gillen of the DSPCA signed off: 'Thankfully, he was adopted today and has gone to live with a garda and doctor in Blanchardstown.' The Taoiseach wrote back: 'Thank you for your recent letter and enclosed photograph of Professor Plum. I am delighted to hear that he has gone to a good home… 'Again, Brian, many thanks for the lovely photograph, which I shall treasure… with my very best wishes, Enda Kenny TD, Taoiseach.' Animal is familiar with the phrase, 'A cat can look at a king.' He is rather more bemused that a Taoiseach should 'treasure' a memento whereby the king can look at a cat.
