6 Manufacturing indexes from Fed branches in N.Y. and Philly both swung to negative in May. Nationwide, April industrial output fell 0.5% from the prior month. A homebuilder confidence gauge rose to 44 in May from 41 in April, but housing starts dropped 16.5% in April, largely on volatile apartment construction. Cheaper fuel lowered consumer prices in April.
