The Conference Board's leading indicators advanced 0.6% in April from the prior month, the biggest increase since Feb. '12, suggesting the economy will pick up momentum in the next 6 months. Seven of 10 components improved, led by a surge in building permits and declines in initial jobless claims. The research firm warned the biggest risk is federal budget cuts.
