ABSTRACT
The article discusses several studies which suggest that uric acid increases vascular risk in people. It cites a study which demonstrates that higher uric acid levels were associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) events. Another study shows that allopurinol used for lowering uric acid levels was associated with better blood pressure control. It suggests the importance of defining the relationship among uric acid, kidney disease, and CVD.
