ABSTRACT
MARK Cavendish celebrated the 100th stage win of a glittering career in the sodden gloom of Italy yesterday. While the 27-yearold produced another masterclass in the art of sprinting, Sir Bradley Wiggins fell definitively out of contention for the Giro d'Italia title that he had made his year's dream. Wiggins, suffering from a chest infection and head cold, is now 5min 22sec adrift after 12 stages and could be withdrawn from the race by Sky medics with more than a week remaining.
