ABSTRACT
MANCHESTER CITY have been given the green light by Malaga to appoint Manuel Pellegrini as their manager and plan to sign the club's star player, Isco, too. Malaga have agreed to waive a £3million release clause and free Chilean Pellegrini, 59, from the final two years of his contract. Pellegrini is expected to earn £4.5m a year, but is unlikely to be unveiled until City return from their post-season trip to New York, where they will play Chelsea in two friendlies. Meanwhile, City chief executive Ferran Soriano has held talks with Isco's father, Paco Alarcon, and lawyers over a four-year deal, and is hopeful of signing the player for less than the £27m buyout clause that was put into the deal he agreed with the Spanish club in January. While the 21-year-old insists he is happy at Malaga, he has accepted for some time that the club's serious financial problems mean he must be sold.
