ABSTRACT
RIO FERDINAND made a personal phone call to England manager Roy Hodgson on Tuesday to outline the reasons behind his international retirement. Ferdinand told Hodgson that he will be signing a one-year extension to his contract at Manchester United shortly and could no longer commit himself to his country.
