ABSTRACT
READING of choristers getting an 'insulting' offer of £110 a day (Mail), I thought back to my childhood in the 1940s when junior choir boys were rewarded with 6d per quarter for full attendance — two services each Sunday and choir practice on Wednesday evenings for 13 weeks. Senior boys progressed to a maximum of 2s/6d for the three months.
