ABSTRACT
The article looks at economic and political conditions in Europe, as of 2013. The authors note that Europe's alleged decline has become a commonplace among political commentators in other parts of the world. They present a case for the view that Europe is far stronger than many assume. They examine and offer evidence in opposition to several specific ideas about Europe that they consider myths, including that the European Union (EU) countries have become economically uncompetitive, that the European Union is likely to fall apart, and that Europe has become irrelevant to international relations concerning Asia.
