Summer island

Year-round island communities flicker like candle flames in the winds off the North Atlantic. Once, about 80 Maine islands supported schools and churches; today only 16 remain. Criehaven, about 20 miles out to sea, was the last major year-round island and community to disappear. Now only a seasonal fishing and summer vacation community remains.
