ABSTRACT
In times past, wool, cotton and (for the rich) silk were the fibers of choice for outdoor clothing. They were the only choices until polypropylene and polyester came along. Now blended fabrics (synthetic and natural) and plate-knit (or bicomponent) fabrics provide warmth, even when wet, or promote perspiration evaporation.
