ABSTRACT
THE nuclear threats from North Korea can be treated as a bad joke like something out of the spoof movie Team America: World Police. At a deeper level, it is a worrying reminder of an evil dictatorship's ability to remain in place by using imprisonment, torture and worse, in the face of comprehensive economic failure. Over the past 60 years, North Korea frequently suffered hunger and mass famine while South Korea prospered. The average North Korean is three inches smaller than their South Korean counterpart.
