ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the use of margin loans. It states that there was a boom on leveraged investing wherein margin accounts inflated from $200 billion in February 2009 to $355 billion in December 2012. According to senior planner Laurie Renchik of the Center for Financial Planning, portfolio leveraging on margin purchasing power is a strategy for investors with high risk tolerance. It mentions that margin can be used in cross trades or as overdraft protection.
