ABSTRACT
ONE glaring omission from comedienne Miranda Hart's TV biography of the late Eric Morecambe was any contribution from Eric's widow, Joan. While friends and colleagues were interviewed for the show, screened on Friday, Joan's absence was due to the tightfistedness of the BBC's contract with Eric and his partner Ernie Wise, according to the star's friend and collaborator Charles Wallace. 'I wasn't surprised Joan didn't make an appearance,' says Wallace, whose book, Who Killed Eric Morecambe? blames ruthless TV schedules for his demise. 'The BBC negotiated a less than generous contract with Eric and Ernie for the use of their material.'
