ABSTRACT
OLIVIER GIROUD has piled the pressure on stuttering Chelsea in the race for a place in the Champions League. Arsenal kept up their recent revival with a 4-1 win over Reading on Saturday, and Giroud, who scored his 18th goal of the season, insists his side want to be London's top club at the end of the season. 'We're putting pressure on Spurs and Chelsea,' said the France striker. 'There are eight games left and a lot of points to play for. I trust in our qualities. So I really think that we can make fourth and maybe even third place,' said Giroud. 'Do I think Spurs are feeling the pressure? Yes. Spurs have to play Manchester City and Chelsea, so they have some hard games.' But Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes his team's tough April schedule will help their bid for the top four. Spurs moved into third with their 2-1 win at Swansea on Saturday but play Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City in the next three weeks, as well as a two-leg Europa League quarter-final against FC Basel. Home draws against the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Norwich and Stoke, as well as defeats by Wigan and Fulham, have stunted Spurs' progress but Friedel said: 'The bigger the game, the more the players will step up to the plate. 'It might be nervy for the people who think about it and watch it but in-house, we know what we want to do.'
