ANALISYS OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF IMPROVING THE RAW MATERIALS SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION PROCESSES IN BLAST FURNACE USING DEM

ABSTRACT
The arrangement and storage of iron-bearing raw materials play an important role in the smooth running of the first fusion iron making process. The size of the loaded material, the mass fraction, the degree of permeability, the gas distribution and the variation of various parameters in the main areas of the furnace are just a few factors that can be improved through a development of the loading system and of the raw material composition. In this paper, we will study to what extent the influence of such factors such as the size and diversity of the material loaded into a bunker influence mass fraction, friction coefficients and distribution speed. The analysis was performed by experiment and simulation using DEM. The results show that the higher the assortment diversification in terms of particle size is, a change in the fall speed of particles depending on the change of the static and rolling friction coefficients.
