Sporting events are the specific stage of sports activities and the place of expression skills of immediate protagonists - athletes. Preparation, organization and implementation of sport events is refected in success and ability of specifc human resources, and certain institutions in a particular environment, but also the host city. Besides Olympic games Universiade is the biggest sport event held in a country. Universiade is hosted every other year in selected city of a country member of FISU. Universiade organization is appointed similarly to Olympic games rules and presents a big honor and responsibility for the country and the city. The twenty fifth anniversary of Summer Universiade was held in Belgrade between July 1st and July 12th 2009 as the largest sports event in the world and the largest sports event organized in Serbia. About 9 thousand athletes - students from 140 countries were competing in 15 sports and 208 disciplines. Serbia was welcomed and hosted athletes who were competing in athletics, judo, football, basketball, fencing, volleyball, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, diving, artistic gymnastics, table tennis, archery, lens, taekwondo and water polo.
