This article examines the practice of theological reflection with respect to spiritual direction. The arguments on the differences between religion and spirituality include the perception of spirituality as personal and religion as communal. The focus in spiritual direction is the person's relationship with God through a process of co-discerning the movements of the Holy Spirit in his life. Both theological reflection and prayer uses the mind and heart in a process that concentrates upon God.
