ABSTRACT
This article explores the theological foundation for stewardship as a principle of Christian living in the Catholic context. The definition of stewardship according to the gospel of Saint Paul is elaborated. It is inferred that the church as a community is responsible for becoming a steward of the mysteries of God. It is emphasized that humility allows people to realise that they are temporary custodians and stewards of divine grace and generosity.
