ABSTRACT
I was astonished to read the tirade by Michael Gove in last week's Mail on Sunday ('Why I refuse to surrender to militant Marxist teachers hell-bent on destroying our schools'). If he really is determined to 'fight for ... the children' in education, he is going the wrong way about it. Teaching methods should be varied according to the needs, attitude and level of the child and not be dictated from on high. Any change should be brought in gradually and founded on an understanding of how children learn.
