Pistorius must be kept away from Moscow

March 2013
Mail on Sunday;3/31/2013, p24
THE agent of Oscar Pistorius tells us his client may compete at this summer's World Athletics Championships in Moscow. He says: 'It's his call. He's the one under all the pressure for the court case and grieving for Reeva.' The 'Reeva' in question is the late Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend Pistorius is accused of murdering. Having little knowledge of the South African legal system, I assume it is common practice to grant bail to those facing murder charges, then to allow them to travel abroad with minimal restriction. I further assume that the athlete's fame and influence had no bearing on that decision.
