There's nothing worse than spending a fortune on heating and still feeling cold. Yet that's the uncomfortable situation for many of us. Millions of the UK's homes were built before effective insulation was standard, which means that heat escapes through roofs, walls, windows, floors and doors - and with it a good chunk of the money we are paying for fuel.
