Who would have thought that one single wire could change history? Apple's switch to a new, smaller 'Lightning' connector on iPhone 5 caused a storm of nerd rage akin to what happens when George Lucas does or says anything about Star Wars. Old docks don't work with new iPhones, so many companies have simply given up. Apple's move has done for the population of iPod docks what Genghis Khan did for rural China.
