ABSTRACT
UEFA chief Michel Platini says clubs competing in Europe cannot afford to pay the £45million cost of introducing goal-line technology to the Champions League over the next five years. Since the prize pot last season was in excess of £700m and over five years that cash pile builds to an incredible £3.5billion, I'd say they will probably cope. A story of Champions League poverty? Platini's playing an early April Fool's joke, right?
