ABSTRACT
The article reports that the U.S. spending on prescription drugs has dropped down by one percent to 325.7 billion U.S. dollars in the year 2012. It mentions that the spending has been falling down for years as the use of low-cost generics has increased in the nation. It also presents the data released by the pharmacy benefit manager Express Scripts Inc. that shows the spending on pills used to treat high blood pressure and cholesterol has decreased by 1.5 percent.
