Although libraries' mission in their communities was the same during a long period of their existence, in modern society there was a need more active libraries' relation a challenge and environment requests. It's expected by libraries' managers to understand and involve new knowledge and competences amongst them there is implemented strategic planning. It's becoming necessary to formulate strategy of every particular library and redirect the whole organization according the current circumstances and possibilities. In this paper some elements of this processwere described such as vision, mission and SWOT analysis of library.
