ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the fundamentals of pumped water systems and discusses variable frequency drives (VFD), which is used to control speed and performance of water pumps. It also states that VFD saves energy and money by helping in adjusting the rotational speed of motor of water pumps. It further describes affinity laws of hydraulics in relation to pumping applicability of VFDs in various sectors and suggests some tips to configure VFDs for larger well-pumping applications.
