ABSTRACT
COLIN GRIFFIN'S plight was highlighted by Sportsmail last Friday and by any number of media organs since, yet still nobody from Athletics Ireland has contacted him to address his allegations of unfair treatment over his Irish Sports Council grant snub. It is understood that AI's high-performance committee met this week and clarified that the Leitrim race walker's case was never put before them, despite the claim by chief executive John Foley and performance director Kevin Ankrom that the committee endorsed the latter's view that an application to the ISC in support of a Griffin grant would be a waste of time. Despite having an A standard for the World Championships he has been omitted from all communications regarding Moscow sent out to top walkers.
