ABSTRACT
AS Tony Blair's head of policy, David Miliband - the new £370,000 chief executive of International Rescue - was nicknamed 'brains' by Alastair Campbell after the Thunderbirds puppet, pictured. His big mistake was not letting his name go forward to be the (£328,000) EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs in 2009, which would have made him a real international player. The job went to Labour's Cathy Ashton. Who, after a wobbly start, is now getting good write-ups in Europe.
