ABSTRACT
I'M confused by Education Secretary Michael Gove. He campaigns tirelessly against 'anti-academic' tendencies in schools, but mocks research by university academics. 'Intergenerational ethnographies' may not be to his taste but they're neither inherently Marxist nor unusual subjects of study in the Oxbridge institutions he praises so passionately.
