ABSTRACT
WITH GCSE and A-level exams fast approaching, students should see the Easter holidays as a chance for serious revision. But solo studying can be boring, stressful and daunting. Specialist Easter revision courses, sometimes called 'crammers', have sprung up around the country to help. These GCSE, AS-level and A2 courses are no substitute for hard work but they can boost confidence, cover weak spots, help with 'question spotting' and improve technique. Students can choose from a range of providers — tutorial colleges, some private schools and specialists such as Justin Craig. The company offers courses at Easter and throughout the year for 5,000 students at 20 centres. Max Levy, 19, who is studying business management at Manchester University, enrolled on a Justin Craig revision course in December 2010 after being disappointed with his C grade in politics AS-level. He managed to lift the grade to an A during resits and enrolled on further A2 revision courses in the subject. Mr Levy, from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, went on to achieve three straight As in politics, history and religious studies A-levels. He said: 'I found the courses a great help as they avoided the distractions of revising at home and helped me have a more focused approach. They really complemented the work I had been doing at school and helped with exam technique.'
