ABSTRACT
Two simple, accurate and economic spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of Irbesartan in bulk and dosage forms. These methods are based on the formation of chloroform soluble ion-association complexes of Irbesartan with tropaeoline ooo (Method A) and alizarin red S (Method B) exhibiting absorption maximum (λmax) at 484 and 420 nm respectively. These methods obey Beer's law in the concentration range of 2.0-10.0 μg/ml and 2.0-10.0 μg/ml. The molar absorptivities are found to be 9.65x104and 2.45x103 lt/mol.cm for methods A and B. These methods can be applied for the assay of irbesartan in pharmaceutical formulations.
