ABSTRACT
This article focusses on the benefits of Computer games based activities for - in the first place - public libraries, but also for academic libraries, archives and museums. Cologne Public Library serves as an example of how to successfully build a heterogenous gaming community around the library’s services. These services embrace programs as well as activities concerning cultural and Professional purposes. Additionally, games increasingly touch the libraries’ core competence of documentation and preservation.
