ABSTRACT
The article reports on the 2011 U.S. National Electric Code (NEC) which includes increased safety requirements for rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems to reduce the risk of fire. The author states that it requires the use of arc-fault circuit interrupters (AFCI) in high-voltage direct current (DC) systems. He mentions that arc-faults pose the greatest fire risk for rooftop PV systems.
