ABSTRACT
The article describes how electronic prescribing, or e-prescribing, increases patient safety by not only eliminating interpretation errors from handwritten prescriptions but also creating a communications bridge between the physician, pharmacist and patient. Erika Bliss, president and chief executive officer of Qliance, advises primary care physicians to at last install one of the free stand-alone e-prescribing systems as written prescriptions are unsafe and are easy to misinterpret.
