ABSTRACT
The author discusses an article within the issue, "Operative versus Nonoperative Treatment of Acute Achilles Tendon Ruptures: A Multicenter Randomized Trial Using Accelerated Functional Rehabilitation," by Kevin Willits and colleagues. It is noted that the re-rupture rate for both treatment methods was very minimal, but a higher rate of complications such as infection, scarring, and pulmonary embolism in the operative group.
