ABSTRACT
The article discusses about bravery of prince Eugene of Savoy Nicholas Henderson. He lived to become the greatest soldier in Europe-and the scourge of France. Born in 1663, Henderson was a distant relative of the king Louis XIV, through a junior branch of the royal family, the Bourbons. His first cousin was the Duke of Savoy, then a sovereign state straddling the frontier between France and Italy. His mother, Olympe Mancini, came of less exalted stock; her ancestors were Sicilian fishermen. Henderson was the fifth and last of the Soissons sons.
