ABSTRACT
Objective: Every human being experiences life transitions. This thesis focuses on life transitions and their impact on health and occupation. The relevance of preventive and consultative occupational therapy in life transitions is investigated. Methods: A systematic literary research was undertaken including a search in German occupational therapy journals and the databases PubMed, CINAHL, CCMed and OTseeker. The terms "occupational therapy", "prevention" and "life transition" were defined and linked with each other. Results: The existence of different approaches of occupational therapy to cope with special life transitions was found. Occupational behavior changes during life transitions. If these changes are felt as negative changes by the individual illness may result from it. Conclusion: Occupational therapy can offer preventive consultation to support the coping with life events. Further investigation is needed to transfer the findings into practice.
