ABSTRACT
With the accretion of raw biological data in the form of unannotated protein sequences, biologists are seeking solutions to unravel the functions of proteins which have not yet been characterized experimentally. The numerous bioinformatics tools available can be used to gain an insight into structure, functions and interactions of proteins. However, researchers often face difficulties in deciding the choice of tool due to the availability of diverse alternatives. In this study, we attempt to underline an approach of predicting structure and function of protein families from known sequences or structures, which would facilitate characterisation of large protein families and aid in understanding the fundamentals and processes of the tool used.
