ABSTRACT
The article discusses the cystic basal cell carcinoma (BCC) referring to a case study of 60 years aged man with painless, non growing lesion on the left nasal sidewall. It highlights two pathways of pathogenesis that include ultraviolet B irradiation inducing DNA mutations in the p53 tumor suppressor gene and mutations in the Hedgehog signaling pathway. It also describes histological variants such as infiltrative and micronodular BCC and treatments such as microscopic surgery and curettage.
