ABSTRACT
The article informs that an analysis by researcher Dan Krupka and colleagues have found that a hospital's revenue can be seriously affected by reducing surgical complications. Krupka tells that it is a misconception that eliminating the average surgical complication would result in savings of 15,000 to 20,000 dollar. She and her team estimates that hospitals that decrease their complication rate by 1% would lose 1.2 million dollar on 10,000 cases.
