ABSTRACT
The article discusses the report of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the service, location, and financial characteristics of the contract postal units (CPUs) of the U.S. Postal Services (USPS) from 2007 to 2011. It says that high revenue was generated by the USPS relative to CPU compensation. It also mentions that competing demands on staff resources, limited interest from potential partners, and changes in the retail network of the USPS can pose challenges on the use of CPUs.
