ABSTRACT
Creating architectural domes has been more of an art than a science until recent years. There are new technologies, however, that can greatly simplify the process and even reduce the amount (and cost) of materials required to create eye-popping domes for retail, religious, hospitality, high-end residential, and other types of structures. This article looks at 3-D modeling techniques, installation options, hybrid materials, codes, and sheathing.
