This article includes information about fired brick masonry as a building enclosure system, along with new thinking about cavity walls as rainscreens. It also discusses lifecycle performance of brick compared to other wall systems, and advances in manufacturing that improve brick products' sustainability by reducing their embodied energy and emissions burden, and increasing their recycled content.
