Three decades of ICSSR-ICMR Committee Report & the re-assertion of social determinants of health

The article discusses the role of the Indian Council of Social Science Research-Indian Council of Medical Research (ICSSR-ICMR) Report in reasserting the social dimension of health and health services in India. The ICSSR-ICMR Committee considers health as an integrated development which can eliminate poverty and inequality, spread education and enable the poor to assert themselves. Adopting a framework for action on social determinants and universal health coverage is suggested.
