ABSTRACT
The article reports on the benefits that health care facilities can obtain from investing in preventive surgical instrument maintenance and routine device inspections. A maintenance and inspection program which was developed in the sterile processing department of MedCentral Health System in Mansfield, Ohio is discussed. The views that several instrument service and repair provider firms have about hospital instrument maintenance and inspection programs are discussed.
