ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of autogenous bone grafting and bone graft substitutes in dental implants. It highlights the need to understand the operational method of both techniques to determine whether one of them is compatible for dental surgery. It offers information on the concept of biocompatibility and how it can be applied in dental therapy. It explores the categorization of biomaterials based their biological properties including osteoconductor, osteogenic, and osteopromotor. It provides recommendations on how to ensure the safe use of biomaterials in dental implants and how to minimize risk of failure.
